Tony Hale Has A Chip On His Shoulder For “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip”

has been cast in . Hale is set to play the villain in the fourth installment of Fox 200’s successful Chipmunks series, based upon the characters created by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr in 1958.

Hale will join Jason Lee, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney.

Walt Becker will direct from a by Randi Mayem Singer. Ross Bagdasarian and Janice Marmen are producing while Karen Rosenfeld will exec produce.

The hybrid live-action/animated flick’s plot details are currently under wraps, but the film will follow the continued adventures of the musical chipmunk trio.

In 2013, Hale won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Series for his work on HBO’s Veep.

He’ll next lend his voice to the Angry Bird movie and will star in American Ultra and Night Owls. He’ll also appear in Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers, opposite Johnny Depp. Hale will eturn for the upcoming fourth season of Veep and the possible fifth season of Arrested Development.
