Tracy Morgan is in talks to join Ed Helms and Amanda Seyfried in the comedy THE CLAPPER. Based on the a the book by Dito Montiel, The Clapper follows a professional clapper for infomercials that gets 15 minutes of fame on a late night talk show. After his fame fades, he loses his job and develops a relationship who works at a gas station.
Helms and Seyfried are set for the leads and Morgan will play Helms’s best friend. Montiel will adapt the screenplay and direct. He will also serve as producer with Robin Schorr as well as Helms and Mike Falbo under their Pacific Electric production banner.
The movie will mark the second time Morgan worked with Montiel. Morgan starred in Montiel’s crime thriller, Son of No One with Al Pacino and Channing Tatum. His other recent movie credits include The Night Before and Top Five. The former 30 Rock star and Saturday Night Live alum can be seen next in the comedy Fist Fight with Ice Cube and Charlie Day. He has also attached to play Redd Foxx in the forthcoming Lee Daniels-directed biopic Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? with Mike Epps.
