Trai Byers is the latest to join SELMA, the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic produced by Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt. He plays the activist student James Forman, and joins actors Tom Wilkinson, David Oyelowo, Carmen Ejogo, and Common (among others).
Byers had a recurring role on the CW series “90210,” and can be seen next on the Fox drama “Empire” which just got ordered to series by the network.
This is the second casting announcement in two weeks regarding the film, after actor Common’s attachment last Friday. Production is scheduled to start later this month, with a release date in 2015.
Byers is repped by ICM and Wishlab Inc.
