“Transformers 5” Lands Anthony Hopkins

Paramount and Hasbro’s upcoming TRANSFORMERS sequel from Michael Bay has added to its growing cast. He joins previously announced Mark Wahlberg, Jerrod Carmichael, and Josh Duhamel. 

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the project is an adaptation of the popular 80s toy line that grew into books, comics, animation, video games, and films. It centers on factions of transforming alien robots, the Autobots and the Decepticons, in an endless struggle for dominance or eventual peace.

Paramount has assembled a writers’ room to build a new universe that includes new spinoff films for the franchise. Akiva Goldsman is overseeing the room with Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Ken Nolan writing the script. 

Hopkins was most recently seen in Misconduct opposite Duhamel and Al Pacino. He also stars in Collide, due out late summer, and is set to reprise his role as Odin in Thor: Ragnarok.
