Transparent’s Amy Landecker has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming supernatural superhero epic DOCTOR STRANGE. The news comes hot off the casting of Michael Stuhlbarg, who co-starred with Landecker in A Serious Man. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the titular superhero, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, and Mads Mikkelsen.
Scott Derrickson is helming the pic, which has already begun shooting. The film follows arrogant heart surgeon Stephen Strange, who loses his ability to operate after a terrible car accident. However, he finds a new purpose after a spiritual journey takes him to a mystic known as the Ancient One (Swinton), who reveals that Strange is the new Sorcerer Supreme – the one responsible for protecting the planet from supernatural evils.
Landecker currently appears on Amazon’s Emmy-winning series Transparent, which returns for a second season December 11th. She’s also appeared on Louie, Married, and Revenge, as well as in this year’s feature Project Almanac. Landecker just wrapped on the Sam Worthington-led action/thriller Hunter’s Prayer and the Susan Sarandon drama The Meddler.
She’s repped by ICM.
