Cary Fukunaga has left the remake of the classic Stephen King novel IT, citing creative differences. Previoulsy attached to direct, he was also heavily involved in the writing process. Fukunaga, along with Chase Palmer, had written two separate films, which New Line now plans to merge into one project. It is not clear how the script will move forward.
Earlier this month, We’re The Millers star Will Poulter was announced as Pennywise, played by Tim Curry in the 1991 television adaptation. The project was originally planned to start production this summer, but will now be pushed back.
Known for directing the entirety of the first season of the HBO series True Detective, Fukunaga has written and directed the upcoming film Beast Of No Nation, to be released by Netflix.
