Intelligent, attractive, and formidable, Valeria is officially a “cultural attaché” at Russia’s Washington, D.C. embassy. Drama pilot GRAND HOTEL has cast Justina Adorno in a series regular role. The project is a soapy drama set against the backdrop of a Miami Beach hotel, centering on the family who owns the business, the staff who run it and the explosive secrets they hide under the perfect exterior. Adorno will play Yoli, Carolina’s (Felize Ramirez) twin sister. Adorno is represented by Andreadis Talent Agency.
CBS’ reboot of CAGNEY & LACY has tapped Ving Rhames to play police Capt. Stark, the LAPD homicide coordinator who is described as unflappable and a leader who inspires loyalty in everyone around him. The series stars Sarah Drew and Michelle Hurd in the title roles. Rhames is represented by Kramer Management.
Karima Westbrook has joined April Blair and Spencer Paysinger’s untitled drama pilot in a series regular role. The project is inspired by the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger and centers on a rising high school football player from South Central L.A. When he is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High, the wins, the losses, and struggles of two families from vastly different worlds – Compton and Beverly Hills – begin to collide. Westbrook will play Grace James, Spencer’s single mother who works as a courthouse clerk to pay the bills. Very much aware of Spencer’s gifts as both an athlete and student, she is entirely supportive of her son’s choice to transfer to Beverly Hills High. Westbrook is represented by Kerner Management Associates.
Jenna Dewan Tatum has boarded the musical drama pilot MIXTAPE starring Callie Hernandez and Madeline Stowe. The drama looks at a disparate group of interconnected people in contemporary Los Angeles through the lens of the music that defines who that are and captures the different stages of love, exploring if time can heal a broken heart and if love can withstand life’s tragedies. Dewan Tatum will play Joanna, a young professional with everything always under control. She’s the most rational person she knows and yet, she’s a little guarded, as if always prepared for the worst. Tatum is represented by UTA and Management 360.
Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s Stellan Skarsgård and The Dresser‘s Emily Watson are set to star opposite Jarred Harris in HBO’s miniseries CHERNOBYL. The five-part miniseries dramatizes the true story of one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, the April 26, 1986 explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Skarsgård will play Boris Shcherbina, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and head of the Bureau for Fuel and Energy of the USSR. A relatively minor figure in the Kremlin, he is assigned to lead the government commission on Chernobyl in the early hours following the accident, when the government was still unaware the reactor had exploded. Watson will portray Ulana Khomyuk, a Soviet nuclear physicist committed to solving the scientific mystery of what led to the disaster at Chernobyl, so that it can be prevented from ever happening again.
