It’s a Comic Paradise
Yankovic is best known for his Grammy-winning parodies of pop hits. His 2014 album Mandatory Fun became the first comedy album to debut at the top of the Billboard chart. The former star of The Weird Al Show has recently guested on Galavant and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. He repped by WME.
Hulu “eyes” two for psychic drama series
The drama series, from Les Bohem, takes a darkly comedic look at the underground world of Los Angeles storefront psychics and the organized crime syndicate that runs them. Misner plays Dr. Nora White, a neuroscientist while Chriqui is Gina, a hypnotist.
Misner, repped by One Entertainment, was a regular on FX’s The Americans and currently recurs on new Showtime’s Billions with a deal to return in Season 2 for six more episodes if the series is renewed.
Ugly Betty’s Mark Indelicato is set to star with Paulina Singer and Ronen Rubenstein in Freeform’s DEAD OF SUMMER. The horror series is written and exec produced by Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, along with Once writer Ian Goldberg.
Set in the late 1980s, school is out for the summer, and a sun-drenched season of firsts beckons the counselors at Camp Clearwater, a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp, including first loves, first kisses – and first kills. Clearwater’s dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn.
Indelicato, repped by APA and Station 3, will play Blair Raymer, an openly gay, artsy and teasing new counselor at Camp Clearwater. Singer, who is with CESD and MKSD Management, plays Jessie Tyler, a stunningly hot but slightly conceited Clearwater vet returning as a new counselor. Rubenstein, repped at WME and MPE, will play Alex, a handsome, protective and brave counselor who’s described as the classic polo-shirt wearing “John Hughes Villain.”
Woody Allen casts Amazon series
Elaine May and Miley Cyrus will star opposite Woody Allen in his upcoming six-episode Amazon series. Allen wrote and will direct the half hour show, which takes place in the 1960s. Shooting begins in March.
Cyrus, who is repped by CAA and ReignDeer Entertainment, has dramatically shaken off her wholesome Hannah Montana image over the last few years, focusing primarily on music rather than acting roles. May, who was last seen in Woody Allen’s 2000 film Small Time Crooks, is with ICM Partners.
