THE BARBARY COAST has landed Kurt Russell and Kate Hudson to star in the series, which is directed by co-written by Mel Gibson. The project is inspired by the book of the same name from Herbert Asbury. It begins with the Gold Rush in 1849 which saw the biggest influx of goldseekers, gamblers, thieves, harlots, politicians, and other felonious parasites to the infant city. This caused a unique criminal district that for almost seventy years was the scene of more viciousness and depravity.
The project hails from The Mark Gordon Company who are putting together the big TV series package before taking it out.
Hudson and Russell are teaming up after previously working together on Deepwater Horizon, which will premiere later this year.
