Swoosie Kurtz has joined comedy pilot CHARLIE FOXTROT. The half-hour centers on Captain Charlie Taylor, a cautious, lovable dentist stationed at Fort Bragg who promises to look after his brother’s impulsive fiancee and her two misfit teens while his brother is deployed in Iraq.
Shondaland’s legal drama from Paul Williams Davies has booked Susannah Flood in a series regular role. The series is set in the Southern District of New York Federal Court and follows brand new lawyers working for both the defense and the prosecution as they handled the most high profile and high stakes cases in the country, all while their personal lives intersect. Flood has been cast as Kate Littlejohn, a smart and steadfast young prosecutor beginning her career at the US District Court in New York.

Marc Cherry and Reba McEntire’s untitled drama pilot has cast Saidah Ekulona in a series regular role. The drama stars McEntire as the sheriff of colorful small town Oxblood, KY, who finds her red state outlook challenged when a young FBI agent of Middle Eastern descent is sent to help her solve a horrific crime. Ekulona will play Velma Winemiller, a church lady who runs the local bed and breakfast with her sister, Inez.

Antonia Thomas has booked the female lead role on THE GOOD DOCTOR from David Shore. The series centers on a young surgeon, Shaun Murphy, with Savant syndrome who is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. Thomas has been cast as Claire Browne, a strong-willed, caring, and talented doctor who forms a special connection with Shaun while dealing with her own issues.
UNIT ZERO, an action dramedy starring Toni Collette, has tapped Kimberly Hebert Gregory. The show follows Collette as Jackie Fink, a brilliant but unassuming CIA engineer and single mom, as she leads a team of desk jockeys into the field as secret agents. Gregory plays Brie, the best friend of Jackie and fellow CIA agent.

Shameless actor Bojama Novakovic will star opposite Alan Cumming in the CBS pilot INSTINCT. The project is based on the upcoming book by James Patterson and centers on a former CIA operative who has since built a “normal” life as a gifted professor and writer but is pulled back into his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer on the loose. Novakovic will play Lizzie, a top detective with the NYPD who approaches Dylan to help with the case.
BBC One’s GUNPOWDER miniseries, which stars and is executive produced by Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, has added Liv Tyler, Peter Mullan, and Mark Gatiss to the cast. The historical drama tells the real story of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 where a group of provincial English Catholics attempted to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I in order to help restore a Catholic to the throne. Tyler will play Anne Vaux, Mullan is set as Jesuit Father Garnet, and Gatiss is cast as King James’ spy Robert Cecil.
