Musician Tom Waits is set to join Hulu’s CITIZEN. The drama pilot is set against the backdrop of a vibrant, ‘supernaturalized’ Los Angeles. It is a hero origin story, blending gritty vigilantism with elements of magical realism.
Waits has been cast as Cesar, a priest who is a walking anachronism of virtue and vice. He is a proudly anti-authoritarian man, who runs a guerrilla humanitarian outfit with questionable legality from his church in Boyle Heights.
The show is directed and executive produced by Me And Earl And The Dying Girl’s Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. Nicholas Schutt, Josh Pate, David Kanter, Matt DeRoss, and Steve Golin also executive produce.
Waits is best known as a singer, songwriter, and composer with a career that began with his debut album Closing Time in 1973. His acting credits include The Book Of Eli, Seven Psychopaths, The Cotton Club, and The Outsiders.

Hannah Marks joins DIRK GENTLY as the female lead. She’ll be starring opposite Samuel Barnett and Elijah Wood in the BBC America drama based on the cult novels from Douglas Adams. Max Landis penned the script for the series.

Paul Adelstein has booked a co-starring role in the Hugh Laurie-starring Hulu drama CHANCE. The event series from is based on the Kem Nunn novel and focuses on Eldon Chance, a San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist who reluctantly gets sucked into a violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption, and mental illness. Adelstein plays Raymond Blackstone, a crooked ruthless and dangerously well-connected Oakland homicide detective.
Adelstein is repped by Gersh and Principal Entertainment LA.
Frankie Faison has landed a series regular role on Shondaland comedy TOAST. The hybrid series revolves around the engaged couple Max and Page, who, over their wedding rehearsal dinner, have their eclectic family and friends give toasts recalling anecdotes about the couple – but flashbacks reveal that the toasts don’t watch the true story of their complicated, funny, and relatable road to marriage. Faison has been cast as Big Earl, the energetic father of Page.

STILL STAR-CROSSED has tapped Buffy The Vampire Slayer‘s Anthony Head and Grant Bowler in regular roles. The series centers on Rosaline, a gorgeous, intelligent and headstrong Capulet and Juliet’s cousin who is ordered to marry Benvolio, a Montague. Head will play Lord Capulet while Bowler will play Lord Montague.
Head is repped by APA and Gordon & French in the UK. Bowler is repped by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.
Guy Burnet is headed to Amazon’s HAND OF GOD for a recurring role. The drama is centered around Judge Pernell Harris who suffers a mental breakdown and goes on a vigilante quest to find the rapist who tore his family apart by relying on “visions” he believes are being sent by God through his son. Burnet is set as Raymond Kelly, an unassuming chameleon; meticulous, professional, sharp, and handy in any situation.
He is repped by Untitled Entertainment, ICM Partners, and Troika in the UK.
Aimee Carrerois has landed a starring role opposite Ashley Tisdale in the Young & Hungry spinoff comedy from Freeform. She reprises her role in the original series as Sofia Rodriguez, an ambitious banking intern. The series follows Sofia as she lands a job working for an overbearing boss.
