Jonathan Rhys Meyers has signed on for the season five of History’s flagship series, VIKINGS. This is Meyers second big project with the cabler as he appears in the upcoming Roots remake. Details of Meyers’s Vikings role are being kept under wraps. The drama just received a season five order and is expected to begin production this summer. Vikings is also created and written by Michael Hirst, who previously worked with Meyers on the acclaimed Showtime drama The Tudors.

Rainn Wilson and Christopher Backus are set to take a ride in the Showtime series ROADIES. The hourlong comedy gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny, and often poignant lives of a committed group of “roadies” who live for music and the de factor family they’ve formed along the way. Wilson will play Bryce Newman, a famous and extremely self-important music journalist. Backus will play Rick, a bass player and member of the Staton House Band.

Emily Browning has been tapped for Starz’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s AMERICAN GODS. She joins previously cast Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle. Browning is set as Laura Moon, the wife of Shadow Moon (Whittle) who has been preparing for her husband’s pending prison release. Little does she know that she will go on an unexpected journey that leads her to an epiphany about her relationship and affords her a second chance to get things right.

Lauren Stamile has landed a major recurring role on NBC’s CHICAGO FIRE. She will play a sexy and smart political consultant with great ambition who’s confident, well-spoken with incredible intuition and has the ability to be a game changer in politics and beyond.

Fox’s LETHAL WEAPON series has booked Johnathan Fernandez and Keesha Sharp for the roles of Scorcese and Trish. Scorcese works with Riggs and Murtaugh at LAPD. Trish is the wife of Roger Murtaugh’s love wife, who worries about him and is not thrilled when she hears about his new adrenaline-crazye partner. The series is based on the popular action film of the same name. Sharp replaces previously cast Golden Brooks. The decision for a change was made after the project’s table read yesterday.

Tommy Savas is joining THE FLUFFY SHOP, the ABC comedy from Gabriel Iglesias. The series follows Gabe (Iglesias), a stepfather and boss to his family and friends, while he navigates his home life during the few days he spends off the road each week. Savas is set as Reggie, Gabe’s manager, who is not a slick Hollywood player but attempts to carry himself like one.
Savas is repped by Ellis Talent Group and Joel Stevens Entertainment Company.
TAKEN has added Jose Pablo Cantiollo in a series regular role of the movie-to-TV prequel. Cantillo will play Bernie, a member of Bryan’s OPCON team, an elite team of operatives who take care of America’s national security emergencies on the ground.
Cantillo is repped by The Kohner Agency.
Ashley Hinshaw has been tapped for the Martin Freeman-Adam Brody drama series START UP from Crackle. The series explores what happens when a brilliant, yet controversial tech idea gets incubated on the wrong side of the tracks by three strangers who don’t necessarily fit the mold of “tech entrepreneurs.”
Hinshaw is repped by UTA and Liebman Entertainment.
