ABC
PHYS ED casts Ryan Sypek and Kate Lang Johnson, as leads in the multi-camera comedy pilot. Sypek will play Ed, a former highschool jock who returns home to teach, and Johnson will play a teacher at the school who Ed ignored during highschool. I guess they haven’t heard of “Eastbound & Down” (or maybe they have). Sypek, has had roles in “How I Met Your Mother” and “Greek”, while Johnson has appeared in “CSI: New York” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”. They are repped by Pardigm and Innovative Artists respectively.
Jason Mantzoukas will guess star on MODERN FAMILY on the 10th episode in this season. He’ll play a jeans designer and boyfriend to Sarah Hyland’s character. He’s popped up several time’s in FX’s “The League” (to hilarious effect), as well as “Childrens Hospital” and “Parks and Recreation”. Next up for him is the development of his screenplay “Mr. Amnesia”. He is repped by UTA.
Jake T Austin will star in ABC Family’s family drama pilot THE FOSTERS. Austin will play Jesus Foster, one half of fraternal twins, a charming, hyperkinetic kid who’s on Ritalin. Austin known best for “Wizards of Waverly Place” has also appeared in “Drop Dead Diva” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”. He is repped by Paradigm.
ABC adds three more siblings to their family drama THE FOSTERS. Cierra Ramirez, known for “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” will play Marianna Foster, a smart-as-a-whip straight-A student who was adopted out of foster care. Hayden Byerly, of “Parenthood” fame will play Callie’s (Maia Mitchell) 13-year-old brother. Danny Nucci, “CSI: Miami”, will play an unknown role. Ramirez and Byerly are repped by Cunningham/Escott/Slevin & Doherty Talent Agency, while Nucci is repped by TalentWorks.
FOX
Andy Samberg will star in an untitled comedy for Fox, written/created by Mike Schur and Dan Goor, about a group of detectives. Samberg will play the lead detective. Samberg, made famous by his Lonely Island Boys youtube group, has recently starred in “Hotel Transylvania” and will be seen next in comedy “The To Do List”. He is repped by UTA.
FX
Dave Navarro will guess star on everyone’s favorite biker drama SONS OF ANARCHY. He will play a Biz Lats gang member. Navarro, known best for his music career (most notable Janes Addcition), currently hosts reality show “Ink Master”.
Another guest star rides into SONS OF ANARCHY and his name is Donal Logue. No word on what role he’ll play but he’s slated to star in the final three episodes of the 5th season. Logue, star of the ill fated (but much loved) “Terriers”, has had stints in “Royal Pains” and “House”. Next he’ll star in ABC’s “Hallelujah” which was picked up for series. He is repped by UTA.
Dylan McDermott will return to AMERICAN HORROR STORY, after starring in the first season. This new season, has familiar faces playing new roles and it’s unclear what capacity McDermott will return for. He is repped by CAA.
HBO
Kevin Dunn will have a recurring role on the Julia Louis-Dreyfus led comedy VEEP. He will play Ben, the no-nonsense president’s chief of staff. Dunn has recently appeared in HBO’s “Luck”, “Harry’s Law” and “Onion SportsDome”. He is repped by Gersh.
Netflix
Carl Weathers will reprise his role for the best comedy in all of existence ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, which has been rescued from cancellation by Netflix. Weathers will play himself, albiet a more ‘kooky’ version of himself. He’ll next be seen in the action/adventure movie “Preferred Artists” currently in development. He’s repped by Preferred Artists.
NBC
Gina Torres will star in NBC’s television adaptation of “Red Dragon”, called HANNIBAL which as been ordered to series. She will play the wife to Jack Crawford played by Laurence Fishbourne (her husband in real life). She’s known to Sci-Fi fans through her work on “Firefly” and “Serenity”, but she’s also a regular on USA’s “Suits”. She is repped by Domain.
Craig Robinson will star in “The Office” developer Greg Daniels’ next comedy project. Robinson’s role will be a talented musician with rough edges who adjusts to his new life as a music teacher in a big-city middle school. Robinson, known for “The Office” and “Hot Tub Time Machine” will appear next in Seth Rogen’s “The End Of The World”. He is repped by UTA.
TBS
Mark-Paul Gosselaar will guess star on TBS comedy MEN AT WORK. He will play an ex-boyfriend described as a handsome doctor who spends his time saving kids’ lives in Africa. Gosselaar, probably still recognized mostly as Zac Morris, currently stars in “Franklin & Bash” and has had a roles in “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” and “Rizzoli & Isles”.
TNT
Rhona Mitra will take the female lead of TNT’s drama pilot THE LAST SHIP, opposite Eric Dane. Mitra will play Rachel Scott, a direct, strong-willed, intelligent, and fearless paleomicrobiologist. Mitra is a regular on Cinemax’s “Strike Back” and has had roles in “The Gates”, “Boston Legal” and “Nip/Tuck”. She is repped by Ken McReddie Associates.
Drama pilot KING & MAXWELL, has tapped Ryan Hurst, of “Sons of Anarchy” fame, to star. Hurst will play Edgar, a suspected serial killer in prison. He’s recently starred in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Heartland” in addition to being a former regular on “Sons of Anarchy”. He is repped by Domain.
Brendan Fraser will star in TNT drama pilot, LEGENDS. Fraser will play Martin Odum, a deep-cover operative who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. Fraser was last in the film “Furry Vengeance” and will next be seen in “Pawn Shop Chronicles”. He is repped by CAA.
