Kelly Reilly has been attached to a lead role in ABC’s upcoming limited drama series THE BLACK BOX. The show follows famous neuro-scientist Elizabeth Black (Reilly) as she struggles to keep her own mental illnesses a secret from her coworkers and family. Reilly had always been the network’s top choice for the role, so it is nice to see that negotiations went well. Reilly was most recently seen alongside Denzel Washington in “Flight” and Sam Rockwell in “A Single Shot”. She is slated to appear in “Innocence” and “Calvary” this year, and “Heaven Is for Real” next year. She is repped by ICM.
Mary Lynn Rajskub will be reprising her old role as Chloe, Jack Bauer’s sidekick, in Fox’s upcoming action series 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY. Not much has been released regarding the show’s plot, but it is known that it will take place a few years after the events in the last season of “24”. Kiefer Sutherland is the only other actor confirmed for the show, he of course will be reprising his role as expert CTU agent Jack Bauer. Rajskub has been keeping busy since “24” ended back in May of 2010. She has appeared in “Kings Of Summer”, “Sunshine Cleaning” and “Safety Not Guaranteed”. Salim Daw has joined the cast of FX’s new drama pilot TYRANT. The show will follow a typical American family as they are slowly drawn into the chaotic happenings of a Middle Eastern country. Daw is set to star as Yussef, a close advisor of the country’s dictator Khalid Al-Fahed. Daw is best known for his roles in “Avanti Popolo”, ” Hatta Ishaar Akhar” and “Massa’ot James Be’eretz Hakodesh”. He currently has no other projects lined up.
Danny Trejo has grabbed a series regular role on George Lopez’s new comedy SAINT GEORGE airing on FX. The show follows the daily trouble a recently divorced working class Mexican-American goes through as he pursues his dreams of being a successful entrepreneur. Lopez will obviously star in the show, while Trejo assumes the role of his uncle Tio. Trejo is no stranger to FX as he had a brief role in the 4th and 5th seasons of the network’s show “Sons of Anarchy”. On the feature side, he has appeared in Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” remake, “Spy Kids” and “Once Upon a Time in Mexico”, but he is best known for his roles in “Machete” and “Grindhouse”. Trejo will reprising his role as Machete Cortez in the upcoming “Machete Kills”. He will also be starring in and producing Gil Medina’s “Vengeance”. Jenn Lyon and Kaden Gibson have both nabbed starring roles in FX’s new comedy SAINT GEORGE. With George Lopez assuming the show’s lead, Lyon will take on the role of Lopez’s demanding ex-wife and Gibson will play his 11 year old son. They are only two of the many characters that bring an incredible amount of stress to Lopez’s life, from which the show’s laughs will most likely be derived. Lyon was last seen in the TV movie “Phil Spector” and had a brief arch on the FX show “Justified”. She has also had brief one episode appearances in “Army Wives” and “Louie”. Billy Bob Thornton has landed a leading role in the new FX limited series FARGO. Inspired by the Coen Brothers’ 1996 film, the show follows a completely new set of characters involved in a new crime case. Series creator Noah Hawley has promised that it will bring the same humor and “true crime” feel that the original did so beautifully. Thornton is set to play Lorne Malvo, a master puppeteer who manipulates a local insurance salesman and sets him on a path of chaos. Thornton is best known for his performances in “Armageddon”, “The Astronaut Farmer” and “Friday Night Lights”. He is set to star in “Jayne Mansfield’s Car”, “Red Machine” and “Parkland” this year, and he is set to write and direct “And Then We Drove” for 2015. Thornton is repped by WME.
Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett are on board for AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN. Bates will play a socialite named Marie Delphine LaLaurie who also happens to be a serial killer while Bassett will play a voodoo priestess named Marie Laveau. Bates, who starred in “Harry’s Law” and Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” will next appear in the comedy pic “Tammy”. She is repped by ICM. Annette Bening has officially been attached to star in HBO’s upcoming single camera comedy show THE THIRD COAST. Details surrounding the show’s premise are still scarce at this time, but it is known that it will follow a famous casting director in New Mexico. Bening is best known for her roles in “Mars Attacks!”, “The Kids Are All Right” and “American Beauty”. She most recently appeared in “Ginger & Rosa” and the new comedy from Michelle Morgan, “Girl Most Likely”. Bening is repped by CAA.
Anna Torv has officially boarded HBO’s sex drama OPEN in a starring role. Details about the plot have yet to be released, but we known that the show will act as an exploration into the always changing world of relationships and sexuality. Jennifer Jason Leigh has also jumped aboard the pilot as a love interest for Torv’s character. Torv was most recently seen in the incredible show “Fringe” alongside Joshua Jackson and John Noble. Sad news this week, as PARKS AND RECREATION stars Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones have announced that they will be departing the brilliant NBC comedy halfway through its sixth season. Jones will be pursuing a career in development with her newly signed deal with Warner Bros. Television. Lowe will be staying busy with his new role on Nat Geo’s “Killing Kennedy”. Lorraine Toussaint has officially joined the cast of Netflix’s latest original show ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK. She will have a heavily recurring role as the show enters its second season. Danielle Brooks, who appeared in the first season, has been promoted to a series regular and will appear alongside Toussaint. Brooks’ only previous credit includes the Lifetime film “Modern Love”. Toussaint is best known for her roles in “The Soloist”, “Middle of Nowhere” and “Dangerous Minds”. Eva Green and Josh Hartnett have been added to the cast of Showtime’s upcoming horror show PENNY DREADFUL. Created by John Logan, the show’s premise is being kept under wraps, but we do know that it will follow iconic horror monsters and figures as they clash in Victorian-Era London. Hartnett is said to assume the lead role of Ethan Chandler, a charming man of action with a few demons haunting him. Green will be starring as Vanessa, the mysterious heroine of the story. Green is best known for her roles in “Casino Royale” and “Dark Shadows”. She will be appearing “300: Rise of an Empire” and “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” next year. Green is repped by UTA. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Kathryn Hahn have both come aboard Showtime’s new comedy pilot TRENDING DOWN. The show centers on Thom Payne (Hoffman) as he comes to terms with his own obsolescence in an always growing youth minded world. When his advertising agency is bought out, Thom must quickly discover what his purpose is. Hahn’s character for the pilot has yet to be announced. Hoffman is best known for his roles in “The Big Lebowski”, “Moneyball”, and “Synecdoche, New York”. He is currently slated to appear in “A Most Wanted Man” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” this year. Hoffman is unrepped. Ruth Wilson has officially joined the cast of Showtime’s new drama pilot THE AFFAIR. The show, starring Dominic West, centers around Alison (Wilson) a young married woman working full time and attempting to piece her life back together. West will play Noah, a single father of four who starts Alison on this quest of self-exploration. Wilson most recently appeared in “Anna Karenina” and “The Lone Ranger”. She has also appeared briefly in shows such as “The Prisoner”, “Luther” and “Suburban Shootout”. Maura Tierney has landed a starring role in Showtime’s new drama pilot THE AFFAIR. The show follows father of four Noah, who leads a mild mannered life as a New York City high school teacher as his average world begins to implode when a woman (he believes to be his soulmate) arrives. Dominic West is set to star as Noah, while Ruth Wilson stars opposite as the beautiful woman. Tierney will be playing Helen, Noah’s college crush and wife. Tierney was last seen in “1 a Minute” and “Nature Calls”, but is best known for her role in “Liar Liar” and her series regular role as Dr. Abby Lockhart on “ER”. “The Affair” is currently the only project she has lined up. Martin Henderson has landed a lead role in the Sundance Channel’s latest original scripted show THE RED ROAD. The show follows small town sheriff Harold Jensen (Henderson) as he attempts to keep his family from falling apart while keeping the police between two communities in the meantime. Julianne Nicholson has been cast as Jensen’s wife and Jason Momoa has been cast as Ramapo Indian ex-con Phillip Kopus. Henderson is best known for his roles in “Smokin’ Aces”, “The Ring” and most recently in “The Moment”. The only other project he is currently slated for is Atom Egoyan’s “Devil’s Knot”. Jim Murray has landed a series regular role in the second season of Syfy’s DEFIANCE. He will play Niles Pottinger, the latest mayor of the show’s city Defiance. Murray is best known for his roles in “Kevin and Perry Go Large” and “It’s Alive”. His past television work includes brief roles on shows such as Syfy’s “Being Human”, PBS’ “Primeval” and CBS’ “Chaos”. His only other upcoming project is Tony Maylam’s “Phoenix Blue”. Josh Braaten has been cast in a series regular role for USA’s new drama pilot HORIZON. The show will focus on Lauren, a secretary at the FBI during WWII, who begins a personal investigation after discovering multiple files at the bureau labeled “Horizon”. The show stars Ruth Bradley in the role of Lauren. Braaten will play Joe McNeil, a father who’s daughter disappears without a trace. The only person at the FBI who believes his story of course is Lauren. Braaten is best known for his roles in “Semi-Pro”, “Overnight”, “Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd” and “The Frequency of Claire”. He currently has no projects lined up.
