Nicholas Meyer will be writing the pilot for a project centering on the space race between the United States and Russia. The project is based on the book “Red Moon Rising: Sputnik And The Hidden Rivalries That Ignited the Space Age” written by Matthew Brzezinski. Meyer is repped by CAA.
CW is developing JANE THE VIRGIN which is based off of the Venezuelan telenovela “Juana La Virgen.” Jennie Snyder Urman will pen the pilot which revolves around Jane, a hard-working, religious girl who, due to a series of outrageous events, is accidentally artificially inseminated. Urman, who is repped by UTA, will executive produce alongside Silverman, Gary Pearl and Jorge Granier.
NBC is developing a multi-cam comedy using the new 10/90 model for series. The untitled project is being kept under wraps (and still written) by Roseanne Barr and Linda Wallem, with Barr set to star. Barr and Wallem are repped by Paradigm and CAA respectively.
Lin Pictures has signed a two-year overall deal with Warner Bros. TV, under which they company will develop dramas for the studio.
Evan Katz has signed a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV, part of which he will join “24: Live Another Day” as an executive producer.
Starz has given the greenlight to OUTLANDER from “Battlestar Galactica” showrunner Ron Moore. The show is based on Diana Gabaldon’s book of the same name and centers on a combat nurse from WWII who is transported back to the 1700’s in Scotland where she is forced to marry a Scottish knight. Moore is repped by CAA.
