CBS bought a legal drama series from Tribeca Productions and CBS TV Studios. The series is based on the real-life father/daughter lawyer duo Murray and Stacey Richman. Danny Strong (“Game Change”, “Recount”) will write the pilot script with David O. Russell (“The Fighter”) set to direct. Strong and Russell will exec produce along with Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Diane Nabatoff. This marks the second series Tribeca has worked on with CBS, after last season’s “NYC 22”. Strong, Russell and De Niro are all repped by CAA, with Strong also repped by Sweeney Entertainment.
CBS has given a put pilot order to an untitled multi-camera comedy from Kari Lizer and Warner Bros. TV. The show revolves around a man who discovers that his cousin’s fiancee is his dream woman. Kari Lizer, who served as an executive producer on “The New Adventures of Old Christine”, will write and exec produce the series. Lizer also served as a writer for “Weird Science” and co-executive producer on “Will and Grace”. She is repped by Vision Art Management.
TV GREENLIGHTS
HBO has given a full order to Christopher Guest and Jim Piddock’s single-camera comedy, FAMILY TREE. The show will follow Tom Chadwick (Chris O’Dowd) as he investigates his eccentric family and gains a newfound sense of who he is and where he comes from. Like Guest’s movies, which include “A Mighty Wind”, “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman”, the series will be in the mockumentary format. UTA repped-Guest will write and direct the show, and will also appear in it along with Piddock. The show will be produced by A Lucky Giant, which is owned by NBCUniversal International TV Production. O’Dowd is repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
