FOX continues to build the comedy slate it has relied on over the years, moving forward with development on the UNTITLED JB SMOOVE PROJECT from writers/exec producers JB Smoove and Aaron Shure. The half-hour series, which will also be exec produced by Shawn Levy and Marty Adelstein, centers on a blue collar husband and father, who has gotten divorced, but with the economy like it is, can’t move out, so he moves into the basement of the family home.
FOX has moved quick to snatch up the UNTITLED WARREN LEIGHT MEDICAL DRAMA from writer/exec producer Warren Leight. Series, which is also being exec produced by Jon Shestack, Peter Chernin and Kathrine Pope, and produced by Lori Andrews, centers on the fine line of today’s fast-advancing medical field, and the not so black and white ethics that come with it.
FOX adds another medical drama to the growing 2011 slate, picking up the UNTITLED ALLEN MACDONALD MEDICAL DRAMA from writer Allen MacDonald. Series, whichwill be set in the E.R., will follow each character individually, letting the show unfold from each individual perspectives. Kevin Falls, Julia Franz and Jamie Tarses exec produce.
FOX has also looked abroad for new laughs, picking up an Americanized reboot of the Irish series DAN AND BECS from writer/exec producer Dan Bucatinsky. Series, which is also exec produced by original series creator David Coffey, as well as Julia Franz and Jamie Tarses, gives a look into a relationship, from the very different perspectives of the two people in it.
MTV has added another comedy to the mix for the 2011-2012 season, picking up new laugher UNDEREMPLOYED from writer/exec producer Craig Wright. Series, which has been given a pilot presentation, revolves around five college buddies still trying to make it work, a year after graduation.
NICKELODEON has picked up the comedy pilot HOW TO ROCK BRACES AND GLASSES from writers David Israel and Jim O’Doherty. Series, which Israel will exec produce alongside Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo, centers on a popular girl whose status takes a dive after she’s saddled with braces and glasses. Now shunned by the mean girls, she finds a new way to shine — through her music.

NICKELODEON has renewed network hit SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS for a 26-episode ninth season.
TV DEALS
Liz Tigelaar (Life Unexpected) has signed a 2-year/7-figure deal with an option for a third year at ABC. Tigelaar will start out developing new shows, with the possibility of joining a new series in the Fall.
