CBS has ordered cop drama ROOKIES from writer/exec producer Richard Price. The pilot, which was sold in October, 2010, was exec produced by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, and centers on a team of six freshman cops who are sent into high-crime trouble spots.
CBS has picked up new laugher VINCE UNCENSORED from writer/exec producer Phoef Sutton. Series, which is also exec produced by Conan O’Brien and David Kissinger, centers on a man who, after a life-changing experience, decides to take a more honest approach to his life, work and family.
FOX has had a busy few days, kickstarting their greenlighting days with single-cam comedy ICELAND from writer/exec producer Andy Bobrow. Series, centers on the remaining part of a relationship dealing with a deceased finance.
FOX has also picked up to pilot the new comedy TAGGED from writers/exec producers David Guarascio and Moses Port. Series, which is also exec produced by Carolyn Bernstein, Howard Owens and Todd Cohen, is pitched as a workplace ensemble comedy set at the Los Angeles County’s coroner’s office.
FOX has also handed out a pilot order to hot new action/drama procedural EXIT STRATEGY from writer/exec producer David Guggenheim. Series, which was picked up in September, 2010, will also be exec produced by star Ethan Hawke, Heather Kadin, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, centers on a team of CIA agents, who are called in when operations go awry. Antoine Fuqua, who will direct the pilot, will also exec produce.
MTV has picked up the new comedy laugher LOST IN THE WOODS from writer/exec producer Matt Jones. Series, which will also be exec produced by Teri Weinberg, centers on a misguided summer camp, and the counselors and campers that attend it.
NBC has made a surprise move and picked up the recently announced as being dead WONDER WOMAN from writer/exec producer David E. Kelley. The project, which Kelley himself had announced as being dead just last week, seemed to find a surprise home when the network president added it to the slate. Series, which will reboot the comic book character for the modern generation, will now seek new exec producers to get involved, as it moves toward pilot.
NBC has also handed out a pilot commitment to the hour-long series A MANN’S WORLD (previously known as the UNTITLED MPK HAIRDRESSER PROJECT) from writer/exec producer Michael Patrick King. The pilot which was picked up in November, 2010, will explore mens struggles with aging, as seen in the eyes of a straight Beverly Hills hairdresser in his 50s, who is doing everything he can to stay young and relevant in a place where looks mean everything. Casting is now underway.
NBC has also greenlit a Spielberg to their schedule, adding SMASH from writer/exec producer Theresa Rebeck. Series, which will also be exec produced by Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, is said to be a musical series, which focuses on the prepping of a Broadway show.
NBC has also added a new twist on the romantic comedy to the slate, with I HATE THAT I LOVE YOU from writer/exec producer Jhoni Marchinko. Series, centers on a straight couple who introduces two of their lesbian friends to one another and what results is both instant attraction and a pregnancy.
TBS has decided to jump into the comedy action game, adding GREATEST HITS to the development pool from writer/exec producer Matt Jones. The series, which is pitched as “Grosse Pointe Blank” meets “High Fidelity” centers on a slacker record-store employee who turns into a hitman.
