ABC FAMILY has moved ahead with a series pick-up for 1/2 hour comedy THE GREAT STATE OF GEORGIA from writers/exec producers Jennifer Weiner and Jeff Greenstein. Series, which was picked up in October, 2010, centers on an exuberant plus-sized performer from the south and her science geek best friend who together try to make headway in New York City.
ABC FAMILY has handed out a series order to NINE LIVES froim writer/exec producer Dan Berendsen. Series, which was ordered to pilot in September, 2010, centers on a teen girl who discovers that she’s developing new heightened abilities (super speed, agility, claws) – a fact that doesn’t escape the attention of others like her – and those who hunt them. Gina Girolamo, Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy also exec produce.
ABC FAMILY finally finished out the day with a third series order, picking up hourlong drama SWITCHED AT BIRTH from writer/exec producer Lizzy Weiss. Series, which was also greenlit in September, 2010, centers on two teens, who discover they were switched at birth – one going on to live a life of wealth, the other of poverty.
FOX has picked up the new 1/2 hour comedy spec, the UNTITLED JONAH HILL PROJECT from writer/exec producer Jonah Hill. Series, which is being kept under wraps, will also mark Hill’s TV-directing debut.
TV RENEWALS
While not a renewal, CBS has ordered two additional episodes of new comedy MIKE AND MOLLY.
CBS has also placed an order for two additional episodes of RULES OF ENGAGEMENT.
