FOX has given a pilot order to THE GOODWIN GAMES from “How I Met Your Mother” co-creators and executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. The single-camera comedy series will star Becki Newton and centers around three siblings, one played by Newton, who reconnect after the death of their father.
TBS has picked up a second new comedy series, SULLAVIN AND SON for a 10-episode order, starring comedian Steve Byrne and executive produced by Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley. The series centers on Steve Sullivan (Byrne), the son of the bar’s current owner (Dan Lauria) and the grandson of its founder who surprises his Irish-American father and Korean-American mother (Jodi Long) when he decides to leave his job as a successful corporate attorney in New York and return to the neighborhood to take over the bar. Rob Long will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
Supernatural/thriller feature, LEGION is receiving that TV treatment as SYFY has picked up rights to develop the 2010 film in a new series. Scott Stewart, who co-wrote and directed the film, will executive produce and direct the series. Vaun Wilmott (Sons of Anarchy) will write the pilot. The feature chronicled the human race’s battle for survival against God’s legion of angels sent by him to bring on the Apocalypse.
Comedian-actor Bill Engvall is set to star in an UNTITLED JOHN TINKER DETECTIVE PROJECT for TNT. John Tinker will write, executive produce and showrun the series that centers on a Texas sheriff who is transplanted to the NYPD. JP Williams will produce.
