ABC has finalized a deal to move ahead with the new mini-series TITANIC from writer Julian Fellowes. The project, which will be produced by Simon Vaughn, will give us a historical retelling of the tragedy at sea, as seen through real, and fictional characters in their final hours.
HBO has agreed to return to the curiously dark days by picking up the rights to the novel “Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency” from writer Barton Gellman for a planned mini-series entitled CHENEY. The pay channel, which also picked up the rights to the Cheney documentary “The Dark Side” for the series which will focus on Cheney’s life from childhood to most-disliked vice president in the history of the United States. The series will be written by Rick Cleveland, and produced by Paula Weinstein.
HBO has made a deal to pick up the true-tale book “Eating with the Enemy: How I Waged Peace With North Korea from my BBQ Shack in Hackensack” written by Robert Egan and Kurt Pitzer. The plan is to make a film entitled EATING WITH THE ENEMY from the so outlandish, it must be true tale of how a man who owned a run down rib shack in New Jersey befriended North Korean dictator Kim Jong Ill, and while initially being seen as a threat to America, actually became a key person in negotiations to cease the production of nuclear weapons in North Korea. The project is moving forward with James Gandolfini starring, as they seek out a writer.
TNT is in the final legs of negotiations to pick up to series the new Eric McCormack-starring pilot PERCEPTION.
TV LAND has continued to form up its new slate announcing the pick up to series of the new comedies HAPPILY DIVORCED and THE EXES.
