HBO has put into development a new drama series, MADONNAS OF ECHO PARK, an adaptation of the novel from Brando Skyhorse. The pilot will be written by Julia Cho and center on the rapidly changing community in Los Angeles. It explores the relationships, romantic, professional, familial, of the Latinos that have built the community over the years, and the hipsters who are making their way in now, examining the complicated dynamic between the two as they struggle to build new lives for themselves in pursuit of the American dream. Aaron Kaplan and writer Kelly Marcel will executive produce.
Piller/Segan/Shepherd and eOne have picked up series rights to Karin Slaughter’s six-book Grant County series. Set in the fictional town of Heartsdale, Georgia, the narrative takes place from the perspective of three main characters: Sara Linton, the town’s pediatrician and part-time coroner, her ex-husband and Chief of police to whom she is remarried, Jeffrey Tolliver, and his subordinate, detective Lena Adams. Slaughter will cowrite the pilot with Scott Shepherd.

Jennie Snyder Urman, creator/executive producer of the CW drama pilot “First Cut,” has signed a two-year overall deal with the studio that produces it, CBS TV Studios.
Michael Pennie has signed a new two-year overall deal with Universal Television.
