MTV is developing a series based on the popular SCREAM film franchise created by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson. Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley, execs from other projects on the channel, are producing and currently looking for a writer.
RENEWALS
Disney Channel has ordered a third season of SHAKE IT UP!, which stars Zendaya and Bella Thorne as two friends and background dancers on a local dance show. The series has been a big hit for the Mouse House, coming in #1 in the key children’s demographics this past year. Over the summer, a TV movie featuring the stars in Japan will air.
CANCELLATION
SPARTACUS will end it’s successful run on Starz after the third season, subtitled “War of the Damned,” premieres next January. Liam McIntyre stars in the title role, taking over for Andy Whitfield who passed away last year. The series also spawned a prequel, “Gods of the Arena,” which was extremely well-received and remains a top-selling DVD.
