PICK-UPS
A&E has picked up the Alfred Hitchcock “Psycho”-inspired drama BATES MOTEL with a 10-episode order. Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin will serve as executive producers. With a contemporary touch, the series looks at the twisted relationship between serial killer-to-be Norman Bates and his mother, Norma. Roy Lee, John Middleton Jr., and producer Mark Wolper originally put “Bates Motel” together.
RENEWALS
After only two episodes, HBO gave the green light to its newest series THE NEWSROOM for a second season. This comes as no surprise as the pilot scored 2.1 million viewers, almost matching the numbers that “Game of Thrones” put up for its premiere. The network also renewed their popular vampire soap TRUE BLOOD foe a sixth season.
In a surprise twist, HBO has renewed its comedy series EASTBOUND & DOWN for a fourth season. Series star, Danny McBride has signed on and will shoot eight more episodes with the gang from Gary Sanchez Productions.
