Writer Jason Smilovic has set up a project titled THE DETAIL at FOX. Michael Dinner is attached to direct the story about a private detective who forms an agency consisting of “rejects” with unique talents to take down the ex-partner who framed him for a crime he didn’t commit. Sony TV will produce with Elain Goldsmith-Thomas executive producing.
FOX has given a put pilot commitment to feature writers David Guggenheim, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on their new procedural, EXIT STRATEGY, about CIA agents called in when operations go awry. Guggenheim will write and co-exec produce with Kurtzman, Orci and Heather Kadin.
As reported here, it comes to no surprise that JJ Abrams’ new drama ALCATRAZ about the mysteries and secrets of the San Francisco bay island prison, has been picked up to pilot by FOX. Elizabeth Sarnoff, who penned the script and will showrun, will executive produce with Abrams and Bryan Burk.
JJ Abrams continues the TV train with NBC picking up his other new hourlong project, ODD JOBS, starring “Lost” castaways Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn. Written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, the story is under wraps but will have Emerson and O’Quinn playing aging special ops agents. Abrams will executive produce with Bryan Burk, Appelbaum and Nemec.
