Courteney Cox and David Arquette, through their Coquette label, is producing a new drama for ABC titled 911 OPERATORS about emergency call center workers and the split second decisions they make on a daily basis. Michael Caleo will be writing the script and executive producing with Cox and Arquette.
ABC has purchased the rights for Mediaset’s ANTI MAFIA SQUAD with Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo executive producing. The original Italian television series follows a special police unit and their battle against warring mafia families fighting for the leadership of the Cosa Nostra.
Olé, the new production shingle launched by Sean Furst, Bryan Furst and Richard Shepard, have set up two new projects at CBS. First up, CORKSCREW is a spec by Shepard originally written as a feature that deals with a darkly comic take on marriage. The other one is an untitled medical drama written by Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper, who will also executive produce with Furst, Furst and Shepard.
The CW has picked up 6 more scripts each for new cheerleading comedy-drama, HELLCATS, and veteran ONE TREE HILL. Both shows held up well in their airings against new and returning shows on other networks.
ARMY WIVES and DROP DEAD DIVA have both been renewed with a 13-episode order by LIFETIME. This is due to WIVES’ continued success as Lifetime’s highest-rated series ever and an 11% rise in viewership for DIVA in its second season.
