NICKELODEON has picked up new animated series TALES OF PETER RABBIT, based on the Beatrix Potter character “Peter Rabbit”. Chorion and the Frederick Warne and Co. will produce.
MTV has decided to bring back their once-upon-a-time hit PUNK’D, and in keeping with the times, will now replace the departed Ashton Kutcher with Justin Bieber.
NBC has snatched up the “Mr. Mom” family comedy MAN OF THE HOUSE from writers Adam Sztykiel and Rob Cohen. Duo will exec produce alongside Andrea Shay and Mark Gordon.
HBO is moving quick on recent pick-up MEMBER-GUEST, based on the Clint McCown book of the same name. Steve Pink is onboard to write the script, about a burnt-out golf pro who is fighting for one last shot at a tour, but is saddled with the needs of the members of the country club he currently works at. Kevin Bacon is aboard with an eye towards starring, and will exec produce with Aaron Kaplan and Tom Mangan.
Yesterday we reported that Overbrook was shopping a TV adaptation of the Will Smith starrer “Hitch”. Well, after a heated bidding war, FOX has snagged the TV rights, and will see Pete Chiarelli adapt, with Will Smith and James Lassiter producing alongside Sony Pictures TV.
ABC has picked up TV rights to start airing some AWKWARD FAMILY PHOTOS, a new planned comedy series based on the blog, and book that depicts user-submitted photos that are beyond weird for one reason or another. The book and blog, both created by Mike Bender and Doug Chernack, will be adapted by Moses Port and David Guarascio, who will exec produce alongside Bender and Chernack, as well as Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, who will helm the pilot.
