ABC has picked up new adoption drama MATCH from writers Kiersten Van Horne and Cara Haycak, and exec producer Taye Diggs. Series, which is pitched as an ensemble drama, will center on the ethically complex world of adoption, and how families are made and broken as the protagonists — a Los Angeles-based team of lawyers, doctors and caseworkers — struggle to make dreams come true. Abe Hoch and Jennifer Bozell will also exec produce.
CBS has made a blind deal with Eugene Levy and Martin Starr to develop and star in the new UNTITLED LEVY/STARR COMEDY. Ben Feigin, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum will exec produce alongside Levy and Starr.
FOX has picked up new animated comedy TINY MONSTERS (aka LITTLE BITCHES) from writer Ali Rushfield, and exec producers Jack Black, Priyanka Mattoo, Ben Cooley, and Carolyn Bernstein. Series is said to center on a group of mean popular girls in junior high school.
HBO has picked up the new political comedy VEEP from writers/exec producers Armando Iannucci and Simon Blackwell, with Iannucci aboard to direct, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus to star. Series, follows a female senator who becomes vice president of the United States and finds the job is nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned about. Chris Godsick and Frank Rich will also exec produce.
NBC has picked up the UNTITLED JEFF LOWELL PROJECT from writer/exec producer Jeff Lowell. Series, which has already received a script order, is pitched as a romantic dramedy about a couple discovering their relationship, as told from the point of view of the man and the woman’s perspectives via voiceover.
