ABC has bought new romantic comedy series BAD TASTE IN MEN from writers/exec producers Austin Weinberg and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Series, will center on a Chicago woman unable to find Mr. Right.
ABC has picked up the new 1-hour police drama ONE POLICE PLAZA from writers/exec producers Linda Fairstein and Kenneth L. Solarz. Series, which will center on the career of New York City’s first female commissioner, will also be exec produced by Mark Gordon and Deborah Spera.
ABC has managed to outbid several other high-bidding networks to win new 1/2 hour comedy project DEALBREAKER from writers Laura McCreary and Nahnatchka Khan. Series, which will be based on the book and blog “Dealbreaker” from writers/comics Dave Horwitz and Marisa Pinson, is described as a hilarious reference guide to the qualities that, when discovered, transform the “date you hope to go home with” into the “date you pray never calls again.” Ted Field and Mike Weber will exec produce for Radar Pictures, alongside McCreary, Khan, Horwitz and Pinson.
LIFETIME has snagged new cop/single mom drama pilot EXIT 19 from writer/exec producer Jeff Bell. Project, which was originally ordered in 2007 at CBS with Geena Davis to star, and will now star Ally Walker, centers on a single mom as she juggles her demanding family life raising two children with her demanding work life as an NYPD homicide detective.
LIFETIME has also put into development a series spin on one of their own TV movies, giving THE CLIENT LIST (same title on both) a new life, as they commit to a pilot script from writer Jordan Budde. Series, which will also be based on the Katy Vine book – “She Had Brains, a Body, and the Ability To Make Men Love Her,” will see original tv-movie star Jennifer Love Hewitt exec producing, alongside Howard Braunstein, AJ Rinella and Dannielle Thomas.
NBC has picked up the supernatural winery drama VINES from writer/exec producer Mark Kruger, and exec producers Michael Aguilar and Hideo Nakata. The series, which Nakata may also direct the pilot for, centers on a troubled family desperate for a fresh start, who take over a Napa Valley winery that may possess dangerous supernatural powers.
