CBS has continued their Rob Riggle Love, setting a third pilot into motion, in as many years for the comedian, by snatching up the UNTITLED ROBERT SMIGEL COMEDY from writer/exec producer Robert Smigel, and EP Peter Principato. Series centers on a gregarious guy who winds up as a real estate agent working for the nerd he made fun of in high school.
GAME SHOW NETWORK has picked up the UNTITLED CAREY/ROTH SKETCH COMEDY from exec producers Joe Roth and Drew Carey. Sketch comedy series has also received a 40-episode order.
NBC has jumped into bed with Dan Levy and Jamie Tarses with an eye towards producing SEVERAL CHILDREN. Series, which Levy will write and exec produce, and Tarses will exec produce, centers on a businesswomen who lives in a houseful of “kids” — such as her much younger husband, their two children and occasionally her husband’s friends.
STARZ is the latest network to get into the Kelsey Grammar game, picking up the new series BOSS from writer Farhad Safinia and exec producers Grammar, Brian Sher, Stella Stolper and Gus Van Sant, who will also direct the pilot. Series, which has already been given an 8-episode, straight to series order, will center on Grammar’s character, who is the current Mayor of Chicago, and has discovered he has a degenerative mental condition that only he and his doctor know about.
