NBC is adapting THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA, based on the Spanish series “Los Misterios De Laura” and CONSTANTINE, based on the DC comic of the same name. “Laura” was written by Jeff Rake centers on a female homicide detective who, despite being excellent at her job, has a lot of trouble with her personal life. Rake will exec produce with Greg Berlanti and Aaron Kaplan. He is repped by WME. Daniel Cerone wrote “Constantine”, which centers on a reformed con man who becomes a supernatural detective. Cerone will executive produce with David S. Goyer. Cerone is with WME.
FX has ordered a comedy pilot created by Zach Galifianakis and co-written by him and Louis C.K. The project’s details are being kept under wraps but Galifianakis and C.K. will executive produce with Blair Breard, Dave Becky, Andrea Pett-Joseph and Marc Gurvitz. Galifianakis is repped by CAA while C.K. is with APA.
Netflix has given a nine-episode order to MARCO POLO. The series chronicles the legendary explorer Marco Polo and will be exec produced by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg (who are also directing the pilot).
ABC is going forward with AMERICAN CRIME, written by John Ridley. The project centers on a racially-charged murder and the ensuing investigation. Ridley is repped by CAA and is exec producing with Michael McDonald.
Natasha Leggero has sold a comedy project to Comedy Central. Titled ANOTHER PERIOD, it centers on tow sisters (played by Leggero and Riki Lindhome) who only care about how they look and living the socialite lifestyle, despite the fact that they live in 1902. Leggero is repped by CAA.
Rob Thomas is creating an untitled “Veronica Mars”-spinoff for CW Seed, CW’s online component. Exact details on the project are being kept under wraps but key “Veronica Mars” characters will make appearances. Thomas is repped by UTA.
NBC has given a pilot order to SALVATION, written by Liz Heldens. The project centers on a Texas mega-church embroiled in family, religion and corruption. Heldens, repped by WME, will exec produce with David Janollari.
A+E will be remaking HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN. John Wirth is writing the script, which centers on an angel sent to earth to help troubled people. Wirth will exec produce with Mark Wahlberg and Wayne Lepoff. He is repped by WME.
TV RENEWALS
Netflix has renewed it’s hit series LILYHAMMER for a third season. The third season will consist of eight episodes and will premiere later this year.
Sundance Channel has picked up the second season of the show THE RETURNED and has also renewed THE WRITERS’ ROOM for a second season.
HBO has renewed THE NEWSROOM for a third and final season.
FX has picked up JUSTIFIED for a sixth season, which will also mark the show’s last.
Showtime has renewed WEB THERAPY for a fourth season.
CHINA, IL has been renewed for a third season by Adult Swim.
TV ATTACHMENTS
Gus Van Sant, Lee Daniels, Jim Sheridan, Wes Craven and Michael Cera will all direct a different episode of WGN’s TEN COMMANDMENTS. The ten-part series spends an episode on each of the titular commandments. Van Sant, Sheridan and Craven are repped by WME, Daniels by CAA and Cera by ICM.

The Lonely Island has signed a multi-year deal with Fox, under which Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer will develop comedy projects for the network. Lonely Island is repped by UTA.
