TBS is going forward with YOUR FAMILY OR MINE, written by Greg Malins. The series centers on a married couple who have to deal with each other’s eccentric families. Malins will executive produce with Jamie Tarses, Rubi Duanias, Yaniv Polishuk, Avi Nir, Ran Telem and Tamira Yardeni. Malins is with WME.
AMC is developing BOMBINGHAM, written and exec produced by Alexander Woo, the project centers on a 1963 racially-charged murder in Birmingham, Alabama. Aaron Kaplan will also exec produce. Woo is with UTA.
HBO will be turning the Hannah Fidell-helmed pic A TEACHER in to a series. Fidell is writing the script with Daniel Brocklehurst, which centers on a high-school teacher having an affair with one of her students. Jay and Mark Duplass will exec produce with Michael Costigan. Fidell is repped by ICM while Brocklehurst is with United Agents and UTA.
Lifetime is moving forward with THE LOTTERY, giving the show a ten episode order. The series takes place in the future where women have become sterile and only 100 fertilized embryos are available for in vitro fertilization, prompting a lottery to be set up. Tim Sexton (WME) wrote the script.
Jonathan Levine is writing and directing STREET DREAMS for Xbox Entertainment Studios. The project will serve as a loose biography of prolific rapper Nas. Levine will exec produce with Anthony Seleh, Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell. Levine is repped by CAA.
HBO is going forward with THE BRINK. Roberto and Kim Benabib wrote the script, which centers on a geopolitical crisis and three government-based men who must solve it before another world war breaks out. Roberto will exec produce with Jerry Weintraub and Jay Roach. Roberto is with CAA.
Cole Haddon’s script NOTTINGHMAN is being developed by BBC America. The project centers on the Sheriff of Nottinghman, who single-handedly decides to take on King John after his wife is murdered by the King’s men. Haddon is repped by WME.
HBO is developing UTOPIA, based on the British series of the same name. Gillian Flynn is writing the script while David Fincher directs the pilot. The project centers on a group of diehard fans of a graphic novel who go on a hunt, which turns deadly, for the second book by the author. Flynn is repped by WME.
Fox has bought LAST MAN ON EARTH. Will Forte wrote and exec produces the project, which, as the title suggests, centers on the last living man on earth. Also exec producing are Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Forte is repped by UTA.
Adult Swim has renewed RICK AND MORTY for a second season.
TNT has decided to not renew their freshman series MOB CITY after the show failed to hit expectations.
Scott Ellis will direct the NBC pilot ONE BIG HAPPY. The project centers on a lesbian and her best friend, a straight man, who live together and have been trying to get pregnant. She does, just as he finds the love of his life elsewhere. Ellis has previously directed episodes of “Modern Family” and “2 Broke Girls” and is repped by CAA.
