TV SALES
Fox has bought a cop-drama pilot from Chernin Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television. Chris Levinson wrote the untitled project, which centers on a detective who starts losing his memory. To save his job, he puts himself under 24-hour surveillance, but he discovers a world where nothing is as it seems. Levinson was recently a co-executive producer on “Touch”, and she has also worked on “Law and Order”, “Dawson’s Creek”, and “Charmed”. She is repped by WME.
Rumor is that NBC will revisit one of its pilots from the last development season. The project, a medical drama called AFTER HOURS (a.k.a. THE LAST STAND), follows a group of former Army doctors who run the night shift of a San Antonio hospital. The pilot was written by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah and developed by Sony Pictures Television. After initially passing on the script for this next season, NBC has now ordered a second pilot script, and word is that Sony Pictures Television is trying to attach a director.
Syfy has ordered a pilot from Bryan Fuller for his new drama HIGH MOON, which is an adaptation of the 1969 novel “The Lotus Caves” by John Christopher and shows a future in which Earth has established moon colonies and discovers a new form of life. Fuller will executive produce the project with Robert Halmi Sr. and Jim Danger, who will write the pilot.
M. Night Shyamalan is getting into scripted television, as he and Marti Noxon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) have been given a put-pilot commitment by Syfy for PROOF, a drama which follows the son of a billionaire who, after the death of his parents, offers a reward to anyone who can find proof that there is life after death. Shyamalan and Noxon will co-write and co-executive produce the project, with Shyamalan also directing the pilot.
