Terry Moore’s RACHEL RISING has been picked up by Alcon Television Group to be turned into a series. In the book, Rachel wakes up, dead, in a shallow grave, and tries to uncover the mystery of events that led to her being there. Moore will exec produce with Lloyd Levi, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson and Sharon Hall.
George Lopez’s SAINT GEORGE has been picked up by FX for a ten-episode series. Lopez co-wrote the project with Matt Williams and David McFadzean, the project stars Lopez as a successful entrepreneur who must balance his ex-wife, his business and raising his child. Lopez is repped by CAA and Williams by WME.
HBO has purchased DOWN LO from John Legend and Tony Krantz. The project centers on the rap, sports and fashion communities of South Beach, Miami and explores the three worlds intertwining through multiple perspectives. Krantz and Legend will exec produce with Mike Jackson, Ty Stiklorius and Seth Zvi Rosenfeld (CAA), who also wrote the script.
DA VINCI’S DEMONS, which just premiered to solid ratings on Starz, has already been renewed for a second season, which would air next year.
Fox’s GLEE has has been picked up for two more seasons, despite losing its initial steam and coming under scrutiny for a recent episode.
Emily Kapnek has signed a two-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Under the contract, the “Suburgatory” creator will continue to work on the show as well as develop new projects. She is repped by UTA.
David Feeney has signed an overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV. Feeney, who served as a showrunner on “Ben and Kate”, will now also be an executive producer on “New Girl” and develop projects. He is repped by UTA.
