Some new actors are testing with Chloe Moretz in the upcoming sci-fi THE 5TH WAVE. Among those being considered are Tye Sheridan, Nick Robinson and Mitchell Hope. The YA adaptation centers one of the last survivors on earth during a time when the human race is on the verge of extinction who goes on a mission to track down her younger brother who has been abducted by the extraterrestrial creatures colonizing Earth. She is forced to align herself with a young man who holds a secret, and together, they must save mankind. This project is the beginning of a possible franchise, with two more books in the works from author Rick Yancey.
Sheridan is known for his roles in Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life,” and indie dramas “Mud” and “Joe” where he starred opposite Matthew McConaughey and Nicolas Cage, respectively. He’s been in the spotlight recently after being cast in the comedy/horror “Scouts vs. Zombies,” crime thriller “The Forger” with John Travolta and David Lowery’s war drama “Yellow Birds” with Benedict Cumberbatch.
Robinson is known as Ryder Scanlon in the ABC Family comedy “Melissa & Joey” but has also appeared in the teen dramedy “The Kings of Summer.” His next big role will be as Zach in the action/adventure sequel “Jurassic World” opposite Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jake Johnson.
Hope has appeared in the Australian mini-series “Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS” and will next appear in the Disney TV movie “Descendants” with Kristin Chenoweth.
