On the heels of voicing Rafa on the Disney Channel’s popular animated series Elena of Avalor, Ana Ortiz has joined the voice cast of Disney’s UNTITLED WRECK-IT RALPH SEQUEL, the Tracking Board has exclusively learned.
The Ugly Betty actress will voice a small role in the animated movie, which finds John C. Reilly returning to voice the lovable video game villain Wreck-It Ralph. Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch and Jack McBrayer are also among the original voice actors set to return for the sequel.
The first film saw Ralph set out on a journey to fulfill his dream of being a hero, only to wreak havoc on the arcade where he lives. Plot details for the sequel have been sparse, but Reilly has previously teased that Ralph will leave the arcade and wreck the Internet this time around.
Disney released concept art last summer that showed Ralph and sidekick Vanellope (Silverman) going digital, standing over billboards that send up Google and Amazon.
Rich Moore, who directed the first film, will co-direct the sequel with Phil Johnston. After co-writing the original with Frozen’s Jennifer Lee, Johnston has co-written the sequel with Pamela Ribon.
Wreck-It Ralph made $471 million worldwide, so an Internet-set sequel seems like another smart bet for Disney, which will release the follow-up on March 9, 2018.
Ortiz played Hilda Suarez on ABC’s Ugly Betty and Marisol Suarez on Lifetime’s Devious Maids. On the big screen, she appeared alongside Gina Rodriguez in the indie Sleeping with the Fishes, and she also co-starred in Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son. She’s represented by Gersh and GEF Entertainment, and by APA for voice work.
