All the Way actor Aisha Hinds has landed the role of Harriet Tubman in season two of WGN America’s UNDERGROUND. Production on the new season begins this month in Atlanta, GA, with plans for an early 2017 premiere.
The series was created by Misha Green and Joe Pokaski, and was a ratings and critical hit for WGN when it premiered last March. It was given a ten-episode, second season order a month later.
Hinds will play the historical figure, born a slave, who after escaping dedicated her life to leading her family members and leading others freedom. Hinds joins returning castmembers Jurnee Smollet-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Christopher Meloni, Alano Miller, and Jessica de Gouw. Alo guest starring in the sophomore season are Jasika Nicole, Michael Trotter, and Jesse Luken.
Hinds won raves for her performance in HBO’s All the Way as Fannie Lou Hammer. She can also be seen in the upcoming Shots Fired on Fox and The Chi on Showtime.
She is repped by Green & Associates Talent Agency.
