Universal Pictures has selected five writers for its annual Emerging Writers Fellowship, aimed at bolstering diverse talent within the studio’s ranks.
The five writers selected as the 2016-2017 fellows include:
Brian Buccellato
Josephine Green
Leon Hendrix
Rose McAleese
Juel Taylor
“We continue to be thrilled with the extraordinary talent and commitment of these writers, and we are proud that the program continues to serve as a vital launching pad for new voices,” said Universal Pictures President of Production Peter Cramer in announcing this year’s selectees. “We are excited for the 2016-2017 class of fellows to make their mark as contributors here at Universal, and we know the larger creative community will be as impressed with them as we are.”
The program, which runs throughout the year, will see the fellows integrated into the daily production process of the studio, working on writing assignments and development projects while also learning about the entertainment business and participating in panels, seminars, and networking events.
This year, mentors of the program include Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman of Brownstone Productions, Robert Kirkman of Skybound Entertainment, and UnbeliEVAble Entertainment’s Eva Longoria.
