Victor Garber has been cast in the recurring role of Dr. Martin Stein in The CW’s newest comic book adaptation THE FLASH. The series stars Grant Gustin (Glee) as Barry Allen, an assistant police forensic investigator who gains the power of superhuman speed after an accident with a particle accelerator. Martin Stein, who appears in the DC Universe, is a nuclear physicist who was also caught up in the particle accelerator accident, which fused him with a younger scientist, Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell), and together they make up the entity known as Firestorm.
The Flash premiered Tuesday to great ratings, pulling in 4.5 million viewers and a 1.8 in the coveted 18-49 demographic, making it the highest rated debut since The Vampire Diaries.
Garber is no stranger to television. He previous starred in ABC’s Alias as Jack Bristow, father to Jennifer Garner’s Sydney Bristow. He currently has a recurring role on Starz’ crime drama Power about a wealthy New York night club owner who lives a double life as a drug kingpin, as well as Lida Kudrow’s comedy series Web Therapy. On the big screen, he was recently seen in Ben Affleck’s Argo with Bryan Cranston and Alan Arkin.
