The Tracking Board has confirmed that The Hateful Eight‘s Walton Goggins has joined the cast of MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE. The film is the third installment in the Fox franchise, following 2015’s The Scorch Trials.
This third story is the final chapter in the main events of the Maze Runner book series written by James Dashner. It follows Thomas, the main character (played by Dylan O’Brien), and his friends as they search for a cure to a disease known as the Flare and join with the Right Arm, a resistance group against the main antagonists, WICKED.
Goggins will play a dangerous character named Lawrence who is all at once a revolutionary and an anarchist, considering himself a voice for the voiceless.
Wes Ball is directing the film, which is set to come out on February 9, 2018 after being delayed due to an injury O’Brien suffered, based on a script by T.S. Nowlin. Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Lee Stollman, and Joe Hartwick Jr produce through Temple Hill Entertainment and Gotham Group.
Goggins was recently cast in the upcoming Tomb Raider film with Alicia Vikander and also appears in the HBO series Vice Principals. He’s repped by ICM and Darris Hatch Management.
