Vice Principals star Walton Goggins has landed the starring role in KEEPING IT REAL, a new dark comedy currently in development at Showtime with a commitment from the network. CBS TV Studios and Timberman/Beverly are also working on the show, reuniting Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly with Goggins from their days on Justified.
Goggins will star as a high-profile movie star, who’s described as narcissistic but well-intentioned as he travels the world and inserts himself into international incidents. This, of course, only causes more chaos.
Charles Randolph, who won an Oscar for co-writing The Big Short, created and wrote the series. Jim Rash and Nat Faxon, both also Oscar winners for The Descendants, are attached to direct. Plus they will produce the series alongside Goggins, Timberman, Beverly, and Kevin Walsh.
Earlier this year, Goggins received critical acclaim for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. He’s no stranger to television, having appeared in the aforementioned Vice Principals and Justified.
Other than The Big Short, Randolph has written screenplays for Love and Other Drugs, The Interpreter, and The Life of David Gale.
