Despite all of the recent executive shake-ups at Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, the studios are moving ahead with the long-in-development Shazam! movie, starring Zachary Levi from Chuck as the title character.
Warner Bros. has set an April 5, 2019 release date for the movie, which should be going into production soon with It star Jack Dylan Grazer cast as Shazam’s younger alter-ego Billy Batson last month.
This will give Shazam! a little over a year for it to film and do all the post-production, which presumably will involve a lot of visual FX. The film should start production soon with the project filming in Toronto.
Based on C.C. Beck and Carl Parker’s Silver Age character Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family, the screenplay for Shazam! is written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke.
