The end is near, as Warner Bros. has bought JUDGEMENT DAY, a pitch from Mayhem scribe Matias Caruso. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. director Guy Ritchie is attached to produce with Lionel Wigram through their Ritchie/Wigram Productions. Ritchie and Wigram have a first-look deal with the studio.
Details about the project are being kept under wraps, but the story is being described as an action thriller about the end of days.
Jeff Ludwig will produce and oversee for Ritchie/Wigram, while Niija Kuykendall and Jon Gonda will oversee for Warners.
Ritchie, who is currently in post-production on his epic action-adventure flick King Arthur: The Knights of the Round Table for Warner Bros., is also in development with Sherlock Holmes 3, which he is also expected to direct and produce.
Caruso, who landed on the 2013 Hit List for his script Offerings and the 2015 The Black List for his script Carnival, is the writer of Mayhem, the Steven Yeun-starring horror comedy which wrapped production in April.
Caruso is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
