Eugenio Derbez has joined the cast of Warner Bros. sci-fi flick GEOSTORM. The project stars Gerard Butler as a satellite designer who, when the world’s climate-controlling satellites malfunction, has to work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions. Derbez joins Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Andy Garcia, and Abbie Cornish in the film. Dean Devlin penned the script, which will also be his feature directorial debut.
Derbez is best known in his native Mexico for his roles in Spanish language comedies but has recently made the crossover to American films like Jack and Jill, The Book of Life, and Instructions Not Included, which he also directed. Next up, Derbez is set to star in action comedy Aztec Warrior alongside Terry Crews and Luis Guzmán.
