Plutona is a coming-of-age story which centers on five kids who discover the body of the world’s greatest super hero in the woods after school one day. This discovery sends them on a dark journey that will threaten to tear apart their friendship and their lives.
Waypoint’s Ken Kao and Dan Kao will produce with Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder of Addictive Pictures, where Waypoint has a first-look deal.
“Plutona has been a labor of love for us and we were very careful about finding a home for it,” said Lemire, “and we are thrilled that the team at Addictive and Waypoint share our passion for the story and for its potential as a film.”
The producers recently acquired two properties from Kingsman: The Secret Service writer Mark Millar, American Jesus and Supercrooks, with plans to develop each into a feature film.
Lemire is currently executive producing Super Zero, based on his graphic novel Tales From the Farm, and The Descender, based on his comic of the same title, which is in development at Columbia.
