WEEKEND BOX OFFICE (06.09.14) – “The Fault in Our Stars” Lights Up the Weekend

0

Well, this gloomy Monday morning brings joy to some and heartbreak to others. You know what I’m talking about – the TB bet about the box office contenders. Well, needless to say, “Edge of Tomorrow” made a disappointing show of it last weekend, coming in third after YA adaptation “The Fault in Our Stars” and Disney’s family flick “Maleficent,” which held its own in its second week. Although both “Fault” and “Edge” got great reviews, the teen crowd flocked to the theaters while action fans, apparently, didn’t agree. “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “A Million Ways to Die in the West” round out the top five.

In case you were wondering about the bet, let’s just say that the ladies of Tracking Board are getting bragging rights for the rest of the week!

#1 THE FAULT IN OUR STARS Weekend = $48.2 Million Total = $48.2 Million
#2 MALEFICENT Weekend = $33.5 Million Total = $127.4 Million
#3 EDGE OF TOMORROW Weekend = $29.1 Million Total = $29.1 Million
#4 X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Weekend = $14.7 Million Total = $189.1 Million
#5 A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST Weekend = $7.2 Million Total = $30.1 Million
