It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that “Guardians of the Galaxy” continues to rock the box office. Over the holiday weekend the film took in just over $17 million, easily surpassing “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” with $11.9 million. The YA tearjerker “If I Stay” brought in a respectable $9.3 million in its second week in theaters, while Universal’s “As Above, So Below” debuted at $8.6 million. Rounding out the top 5, “Let’s Be Cops” made $8.3 million for Fox.
Now that the summer season is officially over, there’s not a ton going on for the upcoming weekend, which will be here before you know it…we promise. This weekend we’ve got “The Identical,” a drama about two brothers who are separated at birth and go on to lead two very different lives. I’m betting “Guardians” will still be number one next weekend.
