If you’re thinking that the top 5 at the box office look kind of familiar, you’re pretty close to spot-on. In its sixth week at the box office, “Guardians of the Galaxy” continues to rake in the cash, holding steady at #1, making its total gross just under $295 million. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” trails “Guardians” in the #2 spot, bringing in $6.5 million, while “If I Stay” is close behind in third place with $5.7 million. Comedy “Let’s Be Cops” moved up a space to fourth this past weekend, while Relativity’s “The November Man” rounds out the top 5.
Next weekend brings with it a family tale and a thriller with none other than Idris Elba starring. Warner Bros.’ sequel “Dolphin Tale 2” opens alongside Sony’s “No Good Deed.” While I’m sure these are going to engage their target audiences, they’ll be hard pressed to beat out the box office titan that is “Guardians.” I’d say there’s a possibility at least one will crack the top 5, considering that by now, most people who wanted to see “Guardians” and TMNJ have done so.
