Dumb and Dumber To took the weekend’s box office, edging out the second week of Big Hero 6 by $2 million in estimates. Big Hero 6, for its part, performed admirably, dropping only 36 percent from its opening weekend — pretty damn good, for a movie that debuted to $56 million. Interstellar also limited its drop in its second week, losing 38.6 percent to gross nearly $30 million this weekend. On the other hand, the drama Beyond the Lights underperformed, taking in a slim $6.5 million that was nevertheless enough to secure it the #4 spot in a very divided weekend. And the elderly and esteemed Gone Girl clings to the top five for its seventh (and likely final) week.

Next week, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay monopolizes the box office, as the only new release and likely recipient of mountains of moola, dollops of dollars, beaucoup bucks. Check in on Thursday to see just how much of the nation’s GDP we predict Jennifer Lawrence will take in.
