Wes Bentley Joins The Gang In “Pete’s Dragon”

has signed on for a role the Disney remake PETE’S DRAGON. The remake will follow an orphan boy named Pete as he flees from his abusive adoptive parents and befriends a dragon named Elliot in a small fishing village in Maine. Although the 1977 original was a musical, the new version is said to be told as a straight narrative. Bentley will be will joining Oakes Fegley, Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, and Oona Laurence. David Lowery will helm a script from Toby Halbrooks.

Following his success in American Beauty, Bentley has kept busy with a steady stream of film and television appearances including his memorable role as Seneca Crane, gamemaker in the first Hunger Games movie, and a role on American Horror Story. Recently, the young actor landed roles in Interstellar and Ceasar Chavez, with upcoming roles in Terrence Malicks’ Knight of Cups and the drama We Are Your Friends starring Zac Efron.
